Cool Nine years of the RS forum

We just passed the 9 year mark since we launched this vBulletin forum. Actual launch date was 8/22/2005. We now have nearly 22,000 threads. We may not be the size of Mud, but personally I think it's a great size. We have an awesome local online community.

Before 8/2005, we had another forum using some freeware. It got hacked and we lost about a year's worth of data. That's the reason the current forum has the number 2 at the end: http://risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/

Previous to 2004, we had an e-mail list for 3 years. It worked pretty well, but once we had the forum it didn't take long for the email list to become obsolete.

Before 2001, we had printed newsletters. They were pretty cool. I have some of them in a box somewhere. I joined RS in 2000, so I don't know what went on before then. Probably some kind of stone carvings.

Thanks for all your hard work Matt (and everyone else) in making the forum what it is.

That's pretty awesome!

thanks for the stats Matt, I never knew the history really. I'd love to see a newsletter and even better would be the Uber rare stone carvings.

There are only two stone carvings.... one is of Uncle Ben, when his 40 was only on 38's and still had a land cruiser motor in it.

The other was a stone carving of Jeff Zepp's intro to his 76 restoration, how's tat coming Jeff?

There were rumors of a prom picture of Ige, but it's unconfirmed.

Ha ha. Nice.

I think there are also some rumors of a certain mistress of Hatfield that went by the name of "Goldilocks".
