Default FJ40 V8 Bellhousing Issue....Got an Extra Bellhousing Adapter?

I went to mount up my Toyota clutch slave cylinder and ran into an issue. It appears the bellhousing adapter has no way to mount the slave cylinder. Iím using model #712532 which is for a Chevy V8 to Toyota 4spd tranny. This was given to me as an extra when I bought the cruiser. According to AAís website, the Toyota slave cylinder should mount up on the bellhousing without any additional brackets needed. Iím using everything Toyota as recommended by AA (the original ball pivot, release arm, release bearing collar, and slave cylinder) with the exception of the Chevy clutch and pressure plate.

Iíve got two issues here:

1: The holes donít line-up to mount the slave cylinder. Not sure if the current holes in the bellhousing were how the adapter was made or if a previous owner drilled the holes afterwards?

2: I could fab a bracket using the existing holes, but the slave cylinder wonít exactly be parallel. I fear if I mount it slightly crooked it will bind and cause shifting issues at some point.

I looked online to find different pictures of this adapter, but I can only find pictures of the front and back of it, nothing on the side where the slave cylinder mounts.

Anyone running a AA V8/Toy 4spd adapter? If so, I bet your adapter looks different than mine where the slave cylinder mounts. I suspect the right way to fix it is to get a different bellhousing adapter? Anyone have an extra adapter they want to unload?

Thanks -Brad

That doesn't look like the adapter I have that is supposedly a 712532. I don't have it mounted as I still have the three speed. I'll take some pictures of the side where the slave cylinder mounts tonight.

I'm not looking to get rid of mine, but I know someone at the Rally had a few of these.

Thanks Nick, a picture of your's would be very helpful. I double checked last night and mine is stamped as a 712532.....maybe it was some early beta version or something!

I believe Merl with Classic Cruisers had a few different bellhousing adapters for sale at the rally. I figured I see if someone had one locally first.

I definitely think you are missing some metal.

If you're in a bind, I can sell you this one as I still don't have a 4 speed transmission and transfer case to go with it. Let me know.

I have one with no plans for it. Small block Chevy to Toyota 4 speed.
