I wasn't much of a fan of the 80 or 100 but I came to like the 80 and 9 years later I like the 100 so I suppose there is hope although I don't like the lx470 grill or lighting.

Looks like the offspring of a Highlander and Hyundai Santa Fe (old style)...

Someone photoshop it to show what it will look like with a lift, bigger tires, ARB up front, and non-bling rims

Looks like the bumpers etc. are integral to the body so mods could be quite a challenge.

I find the recent Trails article about the gestation of the 70 series very informative and relevant. As the replacement for the venerable 40 series the 70 was met with much derision and skepticism. Now, most of us would simply love to own one, right Wes? C'est la vie.

I should be able to afford a used one in about 2015. Looking forward to that 19-speaker Mark Levinson stereo!

Designing a bullbar for this one is going to be a PITA as the bumper cap extends pretty high. The rear looks pretty easy to build around. It has high lines so you could build something that would look nice and provide lotes of protection.

I was wondering when I read the 70 series article if Toyota was thinking about dropping the 100 series all together. With them offering the 70 in wagon trim that would make sense for the rougher elements in Australia. And the LX would probably satisfy the US market for what Toyota has cultivated as the LC market in the past few years.

The thing that I think will be weird is if a new Cruiser does become available and it really does have front and rear independent suspension. I need to read more on this GX570 to see what they are doing with it for suspension. Maybe that is going to be a split between the Cruiser and the LX? I'd certainly rather it go the other way.
