Default FJ60 parts question

1985 FJ60

My smog pump seized last week and I was able to pick up a spare from Max and his Dad. -Thanks guys.

I pulled my seized pump and noticed it looks quite a bit different than the pump that came from their 85 parts truck. I dropped it in and it fits the lower bracket, but the upper bracket and the pully itself do not line up at all...

Anyone know why there would be such a discrepency between two 1985 60 pumps?? Mine is on the left in the first pic and the replacement on the right.

Some pics:

The housing are shaped differently and you can see how the upper brackets (pointing down in the pic) are different lengths. The pulleys are also not in the same "line" so the belt will not line up.

Would it be possible to pull the guts from the good pump and place them into the housing that fits my 60??

I am needing to get this fixed asap so any help/suggestions greatly appreciated/

Martin - sorry to hear it's different
Production date maybe? Ours was an 09/85...
Not sure about swapping out the housings, but don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, if the guts fit....
If the swap doesn't work, we'll gladly take it back.

Thanks 74fj40.

I figured out the difference. The part you gave looks to be OEM..The pump I pulled is stamped RMFG. I think I can get it to work by using another upper bracket/tensioner. I'll post up the results.

Thanks.

Can you flip the pulley to get it inline?
