Oh, and Kevin, thanks . Helped alot

"And now I rub my eyes, for he has returned!
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned
For he still smiles, and hes still strong
Nothings changed, but the surrounding bull****
That has grown

And now hes home, and were laughing like we always did
My same old, same old friend
Until a quarter-to-ten

I saw the strain creep in
He seemed distracted and I know just what is gonna happen next
Before his first step, hes off again"

Here's hoping to his safe return. I'm humbled by those who put their lives on the line for our country. I hope this war ends soon.

Thanks Matt, and I agree, I also want this war to be over.

Sorry to hear the news. My sister in-law was told it would be a year too. But, after the training, deployment, current extension of deployment, and the post-training, she will have been gone closer to two years... and she's not even regular army but national guard. Some of these soldiers are even being sent back to Iraq after less than a year at home.

It is tough. Last night I was sitting next to a guy in my local club. He leaves at the end of May for tour number 7 in Iraq. He's a single guy so he keeps offering to go over so the family guys don't have to go. He starts rattling off all these city names and I feel guilty because I don't have a clue what he is talking about. I guess where he is going is not so bad this time. What is even tougher is how this works for the kids. I have so many kids that their folks get deployed and then it screws them up. What bothers me most about all this is the Idaho National Guard has gone on 8 deployments to Iraq and our local AFB has only done one in Afghanistan. I'm having a hard time understanding why all the part timers are fighting the war and the fulltimers are staying home. This war is never going to end. Greed, Politics, and Religious differences are fueling the fire.
