I'm hangin' with you and Ige, UB!
FWIW, the new family band radios are getting up to 15 miles range! And you can take them on foot...

Good luck, Robbie. Give yourself an extra 10 minutes to wander the halls at FRCC -- that place is big! I took my general license test there, and it took me a while to find the test room on the lower level.

That'll make em believe! Bruce just got an antenna
that has a 60' boom that he will be putting up somewhere
near 100'. Should be able to talk to austrailia like you were
there! Or fry the neighbors TV, whatever seems more entertaining.

The guy Bruce bought the antenna from also still used this monster.
I believe it is a monobander where the different antennas
(6 in all in the picture) "speak" to each other to transmit
a HUGE signal! The cross-wise tower used to support the antenna
beams weighs in at 16,000 lbs IIRC, and that is what sits
up at the top of the tower! The tower itself was 213' high,
needed FCC approval and requires two flashing lights for air traffic.
COOL!
