I read the whole snoopes thing and never once did they give the real reason.

Telemarketers can't call any phone number where the person receiving the call could be billed for the the call. Because of "ROAM" it is impossible for a person placing the call to know if you are in a "ROAMING" area or not.

We haven't had a landline for like 6 years. Our new house does not even have a landline run to it. We did wire the house though.

What I got from it was that cell phones are an "opt in" deal, while land lines are an "opt out" deal. So you need to opt out on your land line, but you're already out by default on the cell.

So how can we put our land lines on a do not call list?
