Default Random questions

Drum brake front axle with Selectro Hubs - will I need any special tools to disassemble this sucker? Spanner wrenches etc.?

'73 3rd member - is it 4.11?

First question - no.

Second question - it's fine spline, I'm pretty sure it is 4.11. Saweet.

'73 will be fine spline side gears. Fine spline pinion 4.11's only came in early '78's and then came out again for '8-90 FJ-62's!

I know that... I think he thinks it's a fine spline pinion. could be if it was swapped in.

No, I knew about the fine spline pinion...UB already learned me that one

I wasn't sure if the side gears were fine spline - it didn't make sense to me that Toyota would make the inner shaft fine spline but make the birfs coarse spline, but sure 'nuff they did. Oh well at least I got it in and it's going to work, and will give me leisure time to set up the gears in my other 3rd member. Remind me never to break a pinion again.
