Just bought 9 qts of Redline 75w90. $101 including tax. That's enough for both diffs and the transfer case, with maybe a quart (or less) leftover.

Stuff is expensive, but I figure it won't be coming out anytime soon.

You know, after filling the diffs with $80 worth of synthetic oil, I wish there was some noticeable difference. It doesn't sound any different, doesn't go faster, doesn't look cooler. Meh.

It's kind of like eating organic. On the outside, your body still looks the same. But on the inside, your liver and kidneys are happy they don't have to figure out what to do with the insecticides......

Maybe you could get a cool Redline sticker for your window......gains 5 hp!

I drained and filled my tranny with synthetic gear lube this weekend after doing the transfer install. I put regular Hypoy-C in the xfer since Marlin recommends changing it after a few hundred miles, but will probably fill it with Redline before the Rubithon.

Anyway, you guys who have used the Redline gear lube, did it seem fairly thin? I'd say it seemed more like heavy motor oil thickness than gear lube. I used 75W90 MT90.

Yeah, seemed that way to me too. Still had that lovely gear oil smell.

MTL is even lighter than MT-90.
Reports say that the tranny makes a bit more noise with MTL, but as gas prices go up it might be interesting to try it to see if it makes a difference.
It may take a while for the MT-90 to work its way into the synchros of your transmission, but you should see gradually improving shifting as you drive it.

I tried Pennz GL4 75W90 synthetic gear lube a few years ago and it made the transmission shift even worse than Mobil1 GL5. Both are good oils I am sure, but the Aisin synchros really do NOT like those.

OK. I did take a second look at the bottle to make sure. It sure did stink and so that made me less worried.

man o man.... I went to Flatirons tuning a few days ago and got 5 quarts of the MT-90 for the H55F tranny in my 60... holy smokes I just put it in there and what a difference. Before it was hard to get into any gear, and when it went into 2nd or 3rd it would always grind a little bit. Really irritating since I got a brand new in the box H55F for the motor swap and I expected it to shift nicer.. it always sucked. Anyways, now it drives like a new car and I can shift really fast (not that anybody drag races these things, but it's nice when yo uneed to snatch 1st on a muddy steep section).

anyways, thanks for all the info in this post!!!

New fill on the 80 transfer case. Two qts of Redline 75w90 @ $13 each plus tax from 3R Racing. They gave me the 2011 price. They 2012 price is $14/quart.

I just changed the lube baselining the Taco using Redline. FWIW, seems Redline changed the color of MT90 sometime in the past few years. I had one bottle of old stock from probably 2008 which had a faint red tint and the current stuff no longer does, it's just gear lube yellow like the regular 75W-90.
