If it runs well, and is as stock as it looks, yes. Late model 40's have a lot of good upgrades.

Their downfall is poor sheetmetal. Some rust and holes would be expected, but make sure it's not totally rotten.

It looks like it has the typical rust on the back of the tub. I would want to see the floors and rear wheel wells too.

Edit:

Just saw your cross post on MUD with the additional pics. More rust that I thought. I think you can find something worth wrenching on with less rust if you're patient.

Default IFS Parts - $20

Pretty much of a steal, hub-to-hub front end from probably an SAS. Heck, a pair of Aisin IFS hubs alone are worth more than $20. If someone needs this stuff, I could use some of the parts, too.

Is this a good deal?

Kim really liked Neil's 4Runner at the picnic. I've been telling her that a runner would be a good rig for her. She likes the removeable top of the first gen.

Not really screaming, $4000 for a clean but mostly stock IFS 4Runner seems sorta steep.

1986 for $2K

1987 for $2K

If you were open to a 2nd gen (no removable top), you can get a pretty nice truck for $2K.

If he still has the junk, what I really need is the front cross member that the front diff hangs on. The part that has 4 bolts at the front control arm hanger. There are two captured nuts that the front skid plate hangs on at the bottom, mine have been broken for a while and I have been putting long bolts through with fender washers, but it would be nice to have the original mounts so that I have two more bolts. Bud has 4 holes in the skid plate, more is better, right?
