Default Colorado treasures

Reading a older book, I read of a couple of miners who supposedly hid their loot at their cabin to retrieve it later. Supposedly one miner went to prison, the other got sick and died. This is all supposed to be in Colorado not far from a forest service road. A forest service Ranger of the area tried to look for it as he was familiar with the land. Anyone heard of any similar Colorado gold stories?

One Mans West is a good read. Colorado is filled with mining history.

"Gold!" Just came out. I had the author, Ian come do a fun talk on Alferd Packer at the Cinifer Historical Society last weekend. Ian lives in Bailey.

Citadel Mountain by Maynard Adams - about a French expedition to southern Colorado around the time of the Louisiana Purchase that mined gold but only one member of the expedition made it out to tell the story...the gold is still there somewhere.
