Default Bill Moore Lake Sat Sept 23rd

This was the run I was supposed to lead the day after the Rally, but was called back to the hospital when my mother in law took a turn for the worse. At this point I am not anticipating any personal issues, and hopefully this post, plus the announcement I made at this past Wednesday's Rising Sun meeting should be enough to get the word out.

We will meet at the McDonalds just off the El Rancho exit of I-70. We will meet at 9:00AM and depart for the trail head at 9:30. The trailhead is just outside of Empire. The driver's meeting and air down will be at the trailhead, not the meetup spot. CB channel 4. I will have HAM in my sandwich.

This is an easy trail that can be done in any Toyota 4x4 by drivers of any ability. It is an out-and-back trail rather than a loop: we will go up to the lake, have lunch at the lake and then return the same way we came. It is very scenic and even though we consider it relatively easy it does require four wheel drive and has some fun sections. There are a number of spots where driver's choice of easy line or harder line will make the difference in your wheeling experience.

Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, warm clothes (the lake is right at timberline and can be very chilly even when it is warm down in Denver). There are sometimes mosquitoes so consider repellent or long pants/sleeves.

We should be back on pavement around 2-3, and depending on traffic on I-70 might be back to town an hour or so later.

If I wasn't headed down to the sand dunes that do, I'd definitely join in. Hope to get up there or to Loch Lomond before the end of the month.

Nice! Keep 'em coming! This is a really fun trail, trailhead not too far from Denver, not a long day and really scenic.

I'd love to go, but my wife is taking the 200s and the dogs to go camping and wheeling this weekend with a bunch of girl friends. I'd considering bringing the Lexus RX, but I don't want to be "that guy"

I have seen RXs on this trail before, it really isn't that technical. Pretty much any 4x4 can do it, even (shudder the thought! ) a non Toyota
