Default Chinamans Gulch, October 8th, 9am

For the club October Run, we will do Chinamans Gulch on October 8th.

We will plan to be at the trail head at 9am. Once we get people signed up, we can figure out if we want to meet there, or meet up on 285 ahead of time.

This trail is on the low end of a "difficult" trail. You can get a stockish truck through with an experienced driver, but it has gotten more and more dug out over the years, and I have not been on it this year. Therefore, I do not recommend doing this unless you have been out on moderate trails and are comfortable on those trails. It is comparable to Spring Creek, but with a few more obstacles. I recommend that you do not try this in an unarmored truck, and highly recommend a rear locker. A front is nice, but unnecessary.

That said, this trail is a lot of fun, and a great intro to more difficult wheeling. One of my favorites.

Run Guidlelines

-Rear Locker
-Sliders for longer wheelbase rigs, or okay with possible rocker damage. 40's, for example, don't really need them, but still could run into trouble depending on the line.
-Bumpers F/R are nice. You will probably rub them after the whale tail, but I've been through with trucks with stock rear bumpers, and it was okay, they touched a tiny bit. This was a lot of work though, and so if you do want to run with a stock rear bumper, this may be a great run to convince your significant other of the need for a nice new steel bumper
-good tow points front and rear.

Plan on a full day. We will roll out of Denver around 6:30 am, or earlier depending on where you are at. If you want to camp out, there are lots of places to camp near Buena Vista. I cannot camp, and will be driving up Sunday AM.

I've been through the trail in about 2 hours, with a small group, and I've been out there for over 6.

This is an October Run. Chinamans stays clear for much of the year due to the geography around it, but it can have snow. We will know more about the weather when we get closer, but make sure you have good, warm clothing and solid footwear.

I have really wanted to do that trail, but my kitchen pass is being totally spent helping a friend with his Wyoming hunt the week prior. Dang!

If meeting at the trail head at 9am I'll either have to camp or get a motel the night before because I don't wake up before 7am on the weekend
