That 40 could be improved instantly by removing those wheels/tires and adding some steel wheels and pizza cutters.

edit:

and flipping the bezel

and adding a gas cap

and adding oem front turn signals

Yeah Martin, it's mostly a decent stocker but the seller (I assume) tried to do a hasty "improvement". My guess is the guy isn't really that familiar with FJ40s and thought it needed something to justify the asking price. There's some gray paint on the front frame horns that is very poorly done, the wheels and tires of course. It's not the worst rust but the rear sill is toast.

I didn't see anything that would be irreversible and it seems solid otherwise. It's stock underneath except for those 1970s shocks with helper coils on them. The running boards are there and not bent. Seats and interior generally seem fine. If only Cruiser prices weren't stupid.

I didn't lift the hood, so no clue on the engine. It's floor shift and has a B&M (I think) shifter. I didn't think to check any further.

BTW, this is located in Ft. Collins, near Prospect and Lemay.

nice looking 2005 100 for 12K, high miles but if in good shape could be a nice deal.

If it's a steel version, then yes, it is that heavy. The mesh flooring adds a bunch of weight and creates drag and wind noise, as well. Sold mine years ago and haven't missed it one bit. YMMV

you could get one of these in a simple flavor and probably get under that weight by a decent margin:

This 100 is in my neighborhood, and it is very nice looking and maintained as far as I know. Lots of miles for sure at 225k
