It was an interesting conversation to say the least. They debated on the off-pavement vs off-road distinction but there was no real conclusion before the conversation drifted to other areas.

I think groups like Hagerty are still trying to sort out what to do in light of the explosion of interest and value associated with FJ40's and other early 4-wheel drives.

Makes sense... and in all honesty it'd seem like a great opportunity for them.

They could definitely fill a niche. I don't want coverage for my own stupidity just others. If I roll my truck I'm not filling a claim. But if some tard without insurance hits me or I wack an elk on the HWY I want coverage. And coverage for more than KBB.

I'd also like coverage if someone steals my truck.

Tracking....I've been wanting to get additional coverage as well.

Theft has me worried, thinking about an aftermarket alarm system

I've thought about a Lo-Jack-style system or a cellular network-base system or an APRS tracking system. My current mental debate is if it would really make a difference or not. I have a few LEO friends who basically have told me that it's a nice idea but they don't often bother recovering stolen vehicles in time before they've gone through a chop shop. So then would I actually try to round up a group of vigilante friends to go get my truck back or not?

Yes, that's exactly what you do. It's actually quite fun to find your stolen vehicle so you can vent by verbally beating up the thief, and demanding them to pay you for your trouble. Most people who get their vehicle stolen never get this pleasure. Never expect LEO's or anybody to help you. Fact is ownership is an illusion, you can only keep things as long as your will is strong enough to. The way I see it, constant tracking where you have access to the location data is the only option. Then yes, you go get your truck back.

We use State Farm, Brad Hughes here in Louisville.

He's been great about providing declared value insurance for both our F350 and our Willys.

I'm having some luck with Progressive at the moment. Still talking with a rep more but so far so good. I need to find a local rep with State Farm to talk with, too.
