I am interested. I have fond memories of this trail, and we worked hard with CUSP to get it re-opened after the Hayman fire. The first picture is Rob Meredith stalling in the Platte River, second picture is me (open/open, 3 on the tree, 235s!) going up Hackett rock. This was my second time running this trail, pics were taken on the day after Thanksgiving 2001, just a few months before the fire that started in June 2002.

I haven't ran Hackett since b4 the fire. I tried meeting up with some people their about 2 years ago but I got lost and went through a big steel gate on one of the forest service roads that got locked after I drove through and ended up locked in some giant private weird neighborhood with a bunch of giant cabins people had. No one was around to let me out. Anyway I would like to go, have to see if I can get my rig in the shop to get some odds n ends done. We used to take stock rigs all the time, seemed like they had the most fun, but sounds like it's changed.

Ok I am stoked to run Hackett. We'll see if we can get some slider action on the 100.

Wow! I can only imagine what it all looked like with trees.

Sorry everyone for not being able to step up and lead this again. I'll be back next year for sure. The original idea was to make sure we were able to get out once per month as a club and this area is usually free of snow soon after it hits the ground. That made it a perfect winter run.

The first year we did it, it was stock friendly. Calling it stock-capable is more appropriate now, but I think you'll want a lift and sliders at a minimum. Andy and I camped there last summer with some Aussie friends that were visiting and we had a mild-lift Tacoma with a rear locker that made it fine, but we did beat up the tube running boards a little.

The bottom of Hackett is a little more difficult than the rocky/rutted area above the hill on Slaughterhouse. You'll hit some stuff and bump and clunk a little.

I'd really appreciate it if someone would write an article for Toyota Trails. We have not had any Rising Sun content for quite a while. You get paid to go run a trail!

Thanks for leading, Jackson! (and for writing an article?)

Question, My better half has made plans that evening. I am assuming being back by 4:30 is safe?
