Default 2017 Holy Cross Pilgrimage

Short post for now, will upload more pictures later.

We had a great run! Up early and on the trail before 8, so we were the first group up.

Three Trucks: Myself, Paul in is 80, and my brother in his 100.

We had a rainy and cold night before, blue skies for the morning, and then some rain and hail on the way down. Made it up to the city before noon, had lunch and started back down in the rain. Cleaveland Rock is a bit bigger now, dug out pretty good, and there is a new bypass being cut in, which I'm sure will need to be addressed. We walked up, had a look and headed back.

The trail is different in a lot of areas from when I ran it last 7 or 8 years ago. But also the same in others. The first mile is a lot more dug out, and a number of the intermediate rocks are now difficult.

On the plus side, the "root" obstacle is no more. Its now a series of rock ledges, but the actual root is gone.

More later.

Here are some more pictures.

The trail has become more difficult as things have gotten dug out. I would say this is a 2 locker trail for sure, or 1 locker on big tires. Paul's front locker was on the fritz, and he was able to get through, but it took a lot of bouncing and some hard hits. Also, armor is a must. Minimum needs to be sliders and bumpers, and belly protection is highly recommended.

My brother's 100 struggled on a number ledges as it got hung on the rear frame link mounts constantly. He also bent (again) both lower links in the rear, so those are getting some DOM love here shortly.

On to the pictures:

The rocks are big. My brother's 100 needed just a teeennny little tug to get up the first wall. He was hung on both sliders and kept sliding into the lower links, so we lined him up and then tugged him forward about 6 inches and he was able to drive the rest of the way.

Paul made it through unassisted, but would have had a much easier time with his front locker. His 35's helped a lot here.

Always nice to see the club name.

The obstacle is where the root used to be, but the root is gone. Also, I could swear it wasn't this dug out last time.

Good job, Isaac! Sweet to see the club's name on the recognition list. Looks like the rocks haven't changed much and that the 100 made it through just fine is cool. Wish I could have made it. Next time.
