Sodium filled valve stems are usually for extreme heat situations I believe. Like heavy industrial stuff and high boost turbo stuff.

Most of the turbo 5 cyl Audi engines had sodium filled valves FWIW.

A gripe however: bearings by themselves do not reduce friction, the film of lubricant does.

Some of those were a bit of a stretch.

Is it actually true that hydraulic lifters maintain ZERO clearance? I've never worked on a vehicle with hydraulic lifters so I don't know much about them but on every other vehicle I've worked on, zero clearance is no bueno.
