for the most part Dan, yes. However conditions, other user blockage, etc. can often alter your course out there. But in general the idea is to make it up past the playground, then descend down to Alice and out Fall River Road to Idaho Springs. that route can be a challenge in the snow, and more often than not the group can't do it and winds up back in Central City, only to go over to Idaho Springs in a more predictable manner.

The cool part about this route, IMO, is the toughest stuff is on the Central City side, where it's in a shadow most of the time. If you make it over the hill, the descent is pretty exposed and in the sun, so less ice and snow, and you should make it out no prob.. I can't think of a time where someone's made it over the hill then couldn't drive out the whole way, which wouldn't necessarily be the case if you started from the Alice side.

Oh this is exciting. I look forward to seeing how this trail comes out to Idaho Springs. Are there any good guide books that someone can point me to for Colorado trails?

Author Charles Wells - the Colorado books are great. He can be a tad dramatic when describing trail difficulty, so don't let him scare you.

Cool. Thanks for the recommendation. I have had the Colorado book in my Amazon list and I just pulled the trigger.

Scott, I am going to try to go on this run too and help out. If there is some other big rigs (crawlers) Ill haul WR up, if not Ill drive the 80. If there is a lot of snow, then Ill still bring WR to break trail.
