Default 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro

Saw a teaser photo today showing the 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro with a factory installed snorkel. Toyota may be finally stepping up their game a bit.

Why would this vehicle have an air intake snorkle and an air intake scoop on the hood?

Hood scoops and air intakes have been unrelated in most cars for decades. If this truck were a diesel, a hood scoop would flow through an intercooler. . No need for a hood scoop on these though...a freightliner semi has less grill area!

So if that is not an air intake scoop on the hood, what is it?

Well back in 2018 when the 2019 was in the "development stages" Toyota realized they made the 2019 taco way to efficient. So being at the end of development they added the hood scope to reduce gas mileage, allowing all the specs to line up. But what I can't figure out is how that doesn't boost the horse power? I was under the impression that false hood scopes added at least 10hp.

The hood scoop is nonfunctional, so my money is the snorkel is non-functional too, making it the ultimate overlanding-bro accessory.

I bet it's an option, like floor mats.
