Default Trail difficulty

I just saw this on Mud and I find it interesting that the trail difficulty is increasing based on other opinions. I concur with the Kane Creek statement below.

TD=Trail Damage

Ratings 6/7+
The Pickle 10
Kane Creek (note: current trail conditions rank the trail higher than 6 TD shows, see 4x4trails.net, rating it a 7 primarily due to the condition of the final rock hill)
Poison Spider (6 on TD, 8 on 4x4)
Golden Spike (8 both TD & 4x4)
Gold Bar Rim (6 on TD, 7 on 4x4)
Cliff Hanger (7 on TD, 8 on 4x4)
Moab Rim (7 on TD, 8 on 4x4)
Hells Revenge (8 on both TD and 4x4) (rides easier than the rating though, high due to optional obstacles)
Steel Bender (8 on TD, 7 on 4x4)
Behind the Rocks (8 on both TD and 4x4)
Area BFE - good for night trail running (ranges from 4-10+, lots of trails and playgrounds)
Ten Mile Wash (7 on TD, due to the obstacles at the end)
Flat Iron Mesa (7 on TD)
Hole in the Rock 6 on TD (60 miles round trip, FULL DAY or 2 DAY)
Metal Masher 5-9 rating (optional obstacles bring rating to a 9)
Rose Garden Hill (7-9 on TD)
Top of the World (5-7 on TD)

Ratings 4-5
Elephant Hill (5 on TD)
Fins & Things (4-5 on TD)
Hey Joe Canyon (4 on TD)
Sevenmile Rim (4 on TD)
White Rim (4 on TD) (FULL DAY or 2 DAY 77miles)
Klondike Bluffs (4 on TD)
Porcupine Rim (4-5 on TD)
Pole Canyon Rim (4 on TD)
Delores River (4 on TD) more pics on a colorado 4x4 report
Strike Ravine (5 on TD)
Little Canyon 5

Ratings <=3
White Wash Sand Dunes (3 on TD)
Bull canyon (3 on both TD and 4x4) and Gemini Bridges (3 on both TD and 4x4)
Secret Spire (3 on TD)
Onion Creek (3 on TD)
Rock House (3 on TD)
Long Canyon (2 on TD)
Tusher Tunnel / Hidden Canyon (2 on TD)
Yellow Cat Flat (3 on TD)
La Sal Pass (2 on TD)
Lavender Canyon (3 on TD)
Beef Basin (3 on TD)
Boxcar Bridge (3 on TD)
Tower Arch (2 on TD)

Makes sense to me. Lots of trails that are rated extreme aren't that bad to me but I also remember thinking there was no way anyone could do holy cross in a day

I don't see Pritchett or Wipeout on there...Sevenmile is harder than Fins or Porcupine, and E-Hill is moderately harder than Fins or Porcupine.

I don't understand E-Hill having a harder rating. It's scarier due to some exposure in places but hardly harder. The NPS has filled every hole with asphalt. Even coming out in the rain hardly increased the difficultly.

For the most part that is correct, but SOB Hill has gotten much, much more rutted out in the past few years.

I am not sure it's possible to make it through with even a 3rd gen 4 runner without touching the sliders anymore (at least, not on the way out). We definitely had to stack some rocks to get even a couple locked/armored trucks back out of SOB hill this year.

I'm not sure I could make it with my 31" open/open faux-lux today, without body damage.

The odd thing to me is that I assume that most trails have gotten harder largely due to various ATVs tearing up the track a bit, but E-Hill should be immune to that.

In May, in my fully loaded 60, I blew up a tie rod on my draglink and had to stack a few rocks to get off of the Tower Arch trail going up that long ledgy hill towards Salt Flats. Some of the sandy off camber stretches could put a tall vehicle on it's side now too. I wouldn't call it a 2!

SOB was pretty point and go the week before CM16 even in the rain? Granted none of us were on 31's. But that is one of the very few places on E-Hll that can force some articulation of your vehicle.

I'd still rate Porcupine harder unless the BLM has continued to "improve it" as they did a few years back. I have not run it since CM13
