I think a lot of that land is BLM, which makes it cool and open to exploration. Did you guys go anywhere near Penitente Canyon? I've always wanted to check it out.

We didn't.

That memorial is pretty high on my list of things to check out. The whole Marshall Pass area is gorgeous (and has some neat old railroad history).

We did go real close to it. The picture with the 4 trucks ahead, and the church on the ridge in the background is real close to it. In fact, I believe that is the La Garita church.
