You dont want the end of the half shaft in direct contact with the pinion shaft in the diff.

Roger that!

I used some washers that were strategically the right size to space everything. It'll work for now (and probably forever) but I'm going to get 1/4" taken off of the half shafts at some point in the next few months.

About 1000 miles later and the washers are still working without a problem. The long-term plan is to get them machined though. I'm expecting to have time to do that in January or February.

Here's another fun update... I started having some stumbling/hesitation/jerking when going uphill in early December. A friend complained about smelling a lot of unburnt hydrocarbons when I was going uphill. I connected the dots and got rebuilt injectors. Took me a couple tries to get them installed without any leaks but now the 22RE is running like a rockstar.

While I was at it, I fixed my springs so no more droopy butt.

Now I need to address the rotting muffler and exhaust routing... and work on dialing in the front end alignment a bit more.
