I worked on resmogging Mark Sobczak's 1978 FJ40 and can reliably report that there are at least 48 vacuum lines on that vintage 40. Currently in possession of a 60 carb, I can also say that the main difference is that 60 series had more hard vacuum line that 78 40s.

thanks guys. I know i have a '78 carb that will only be good for linkage parts, and I think the other one which will be my base is a '76 or '77. no smog on this rig. I'll be working on it this weekend and let you guys know if I need some help.
