I may be making excuses since I have 2 FT-8800's, but the lack of backlight has really become a non-issue. It would be pretty rare at night that I'd need to see well enough to program in a repeater or something, usually it's just flipping between the two radios and maybe up/down on some presets, all of which is done with the hand mic anyway.

Yes, backlit buttons would be better and there's a mod out there for that, but not worth scrapping the 8800 over, it's a killer radio otherwise.

It may be my cataracts, but I'm having a hard time with light on my dash lately. My Sirius display has to be off at night and on full blast during the day with different contrast settings for either. Same for the FT-90. I have to rheo down my speedo/tach's LEDs as well. But backlit buttons would rule.

Kenwoods are sexy radios, all in all. To maintain a mall rating you need Kenwood/Diamond for sure. But this ftm-350 pushes Yaesu into mall rated territory. I was gonna get an ftm-10 but no more.

Congrats. I've been looking lately for an FT-3000. Seems I always want the hard to find stuff.
