I had the same experience with a Bultaco Alpina 348. Shift on the right, brake on the left, kickstarter on the left in a position no human could operate without getting off the bike (until you got crafty). The brain flips the bit with a little practice.

add in a left hand clutch and twist shift at the grip on a scooter, and the your primary braking on a scooter is the rear and you will understand why I am a bit scatter brained.

Fatten the pilots. Sometime before your head pipes turn any more colors. Or you hole a piston (unlikely, but bears saying).

pipe coloration was from the cv's. no filters and no exhaust backpressure on stock jetting is bad..

I am going to pick up some pilots though..

These things are dang cool...I love the exposed valve train And there's a thread on ADV somewhere I'm sure.
