Default New Crossover Pipe - 5VZE swap

Attached are pics of the old (original) crossover and the new one I had made today. I am going to have it ceramic coated prior to installation. This is for the 4Runner 3.0 to 3.4 swap. T

looks great.. im not a fan of the cross over tubes.. ive always opted to run tru duels.. much better HP and throttle responce.. and a hell of a lot easer to run the exhaust. expectually on custome setups..

On the original, is the fat section just a heat shield or a cat? Are you going to have a heat shield on the new one?

It is a heat sheild. The point of ceramic coating is to insulate the pipe. They coat the inside as well as outside. The actual pipe temp is sustantially lower as the ceramic prevents heat absorbtion and transfer. T

The "fat" section is actually a flex joint isn't it? Stops cracking of the manifolds due to bind after heat expansion.

It appears to be very solid. I think it is just a heat shield but I guess there could be a slip joint inside.

STOP!

Cut the middle out of the crossover and weld in the flex coupler from the original.

DAMHIK.

Ok so I'll admit to being a 3.4 swap luddite... but why do you need to run the exhaust down the other side, anyway?
