Got mine last year...Still sitting in the garage, waiting to be installed...
![]() I'm a little scared about cutting up a perfectly good tailgate - When I'm ready I'll probably put out a "HELP" message ![]() IIRC, last year when I was going through the same questions you were Uncle Ben expressed interest in my spot if I passed on it. I think the deal there though is you'd have to order it as if it were you.

Does this make the tailgate stronger? 80 tailgates have a tendency to bend in the middle between the hinges. Does this help?
Also I assume you only want to store soft stuff in there otherwise it will dent the sheet metal on the outside of the tailgate. |

He claims it does and with the angle iron use to build them I would agree but I don't know if any real testing has been done for strength.

My spot came up last year and I ended up passing. Just a bit too much money at the time. Plus, I put drawers in last year which provided some of the same functionality with more space.

The install took a few hours including straightening the tailgate. A metal cutoff wheel was used to make the cut. I used a sawzall as well to get to the bracing. Couldn't be happier with the product. I believe the tailgate is stronger than before.
Install pics: Before pic is nasty ![]() Carpet removed. You can see how badly the tailgate was bent. Straight edge across tailgate, about a 1" gap in the middle While cutting, I worked the metal back into something straighter. All done minus the rubber padding I plan on adding to the inside.
