Default What kind of butane/propane...

Does this thing take??? I bought this dual burner camping stove at a garage sale for $2. I thought I could clean it up and get some use out of it, but I can't figure out what type of fuel cannister it takes? Any suggestions? Maybe all of us are too young to know what this is?!!!

I think it's butane, but it needs to be very narrow and screw onto the attachment in the photo.

Given how old that thing works, I would have guessed the liquid coleman fuel (whatever that stuff is) that the old (like back in the 80s to early 90s?) use. But AFAIK the old stoves didn't have fuel canisters that screwed on...You slip the tube into the burner lead, pressurize the tank, and go from there.

Any info on the stove as to who made it?

With the fuel line being heated by the burner, I'd vote for liquid gasoline as well.

Maybe?

So, does the fuel canister have the pump/pressure primer on it? Because this thing has two valves that open like you would have for air gas. They can control how much gas is getting to the burners?

The label on the grill says "SPORTSMAN" out of St. Louis, MO.

Looks like it used, the now obsolete, Gerry/Hank Roberts type of butane canisters. The needle pierced a rubber stopper in the top of the can and there usu was an adapter, that screwed on the threads, that held the canister in place 'cuz the can wasn't threaded.

Eh...For another $4 you can probably find a couple old school coleman stoves that use white fuel and fab up a way to use the tanks and tubing from those
