Default External speakers

I need some external speakers for my ham and CB. I have been looking on Ebay and have seen several that look like they would work but I was not sure if the Wattage and Ohm ratings make a difference?? they range from 5 to 20 watts and are either 4 or 8 ohm.

I have a Yaesu FT8800 Ham and Uniden 520 CB. Not sure if that will make a difference. Also was wondering if I'll need separate speakers, or can I run both radios to one speaker using a splitter??

Wish I would have seen this before I left the house, I could have brought a couple to the meeting for you to try...

IIRC I have both the Yaesu speaker as well as one of the cheapies off ebay, maybe even another. I can tell you that you get what you pay for on the cheapy ebay one.

If you're ever down south, or don't mind waiting till the April meeting, you're welcome to try them out to give you some ideas on what you want. IIRC the Yaesu manual tells you (in the back) what the specs of the speaker need to be.

don't buy anything...

I have boxes and boxes of motorola speakers.. only problem is I am in Leadville, but I do head down the hill a bunch..

They look this

http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorla-HSN4019-...21142013r33287

You would have to put whatever style plug you need on it..

I probably have 50 of them... I can't make them all disappear at once..

I would love to have one of these again. The box has great resonance at human voice frequencies and when the speaker dies, R.S. has a replacement that pops right in. How much do you want for these?

Would one of these work in the 80 series lower speaker spot (left knee)?

I'd be interested in rigging something up for under there to hear my CB better.

If not, Paul, I have something with a slightly smaller speaker that you can have when the Motorola arrives. It is really loud with my FT-90, too loud in fact, so mounted down by your shin might be a good thing.
