I would look for an Audi A4 2 door convertible if you want a really cool car that is also practical. It has the backseat for the kids, V6 version is all wheel drive. With the 1.8 (2.0 if 07 or newer) turbo (front wheel drive) will get 32 mpg highway. They also came with 3.0 V6's that will get 28 mpg. I've had 3 Audi's and have never been to the dealer once other than for oil changes and tire rotations.

I agree on the WRX STI, but the only problemo is the wing and all the tuner Civic's who want to race you!

When we were shopping for a replacement to the Civic after I totaled it we looked at the WRX STi. That is a fun car and we might have considered it if it had the more tame wing of the regular WRX. That thing is annoying and fugly. But the car otherwise is a hoot.

I had a WRX, they're fun but not the lightest in the world. I'm looking for something sporty too, Excursion should be on its way out tonight so I'll have a bit of coin to burn. What about S2000's? I'm looking at an MR2 as well, cheap and light. Maybe sell your blood and get an Elise?

My son had a WRX for many years, fun car but small, especially the back seat. His new car is the Infiniti (08)- he loves it, very fast and sporty. You might want to look into a Hundai Sonata, my wife just brought one (traded in her 06 4Runner - almost a even trade for a sport model). Nice sporty car for the city. They redone the 2011 - nice looking car for a great price.

Wow, an RS6. I figured no one was selling those.

I spent so much money fixing my old S4 I swore I'd never buy a used German car again... but an RS6 is enticing.

Did you buy them used or new? I poured money into my 1993 Audi S4. The engine was flawless; the rest of the car had problems.

Mike, I will definitely look at the G35/37 coupe -- it's more stylin' for sure.

Steve, that truck looks far too useful to be a good midlife crisis car.
