here's a few snaps from the girls first ever time on skis. good friend of ours used to be an instructor up at eldora so we met her up there over the weekend. she took my oldest two for a couple of hours while i took the youngest and made laps with her between my legs. all 3 are totally hooked which is both a blessing and a curse. we'll be back up there this weekend for round 2.

i now have a new found respect for my parents when they taught me how to ski at the same age as my youngest.

This isn't technically a photo, but it is a video made up of over 7500 still images that have been assembled into a pretty amazing capture of the night sky over the Atacama Desert in Chile. It's not a video, just a really fast slide show .

Hit the YouTube URL and view in 720p HD for a more spectacular view.

Indeed.

Fear the hearts of men are failing
For these are latter days we know
The Great Depression now is spreading
God's word declared it would be so

I'm going where there's no depression
To a better land that's free from care
I'll leave this world of its toil and trouble
My home's in heaven
I'm going there

In this dark hour of midnight nearing
Tribulation time will come
The storms will hurl in midnight fear
And sweep lost millions to their doom

Nothing fancy: Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 AI (probably around f5.6~f8), Hitech 3x Grad ND, Ektrachrome 100G, Nikon FM3a

Here's a couple more with the same combo (minus the ND on the second) from that trip.

Messing around with the Zenitar fisheye. That's such a fun lens.

that's good stuff. i am a velvia guy though. pull it just a little bit, 1/3 of a stop, and the color saturation you got was amazing.

I have trouble keeping Velvia and E100VS from getting too dense for my scanner, a Nikon Coolscan V. They (Velvia particularly) looks good projected but they just don't scan well, easily at least. My guess it's got a lot to do also that I'm just doing 35mm film and the frame is just so small for a pedestrian scanner. It does a good job making average films look good, so the Ektachrome, Fujichrome, Kodak Gold, etc. look fine for what I do.

Dave, your pictures do a great job of communicating the feel of those scenes.
