Get a Collector's Vehicle license plate and you'll never have to pass smog again in CO - it's a 5 year registration and you just have to pass smog the 1st time when you get the plates - as long as you pay the registration fee every 5 years you don't have to get it emissions tested. That's what I did on my '77 5 years ago and I've never looked back.

I have thought about that too.

Laws have changed

Only '75 and older qualify now unless you were grandfathered in before Sept 1 2009

http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite.../1185870965443

(just down from the top or search Colorado Revised Statute 42-12-101)

So, if you have collector plates on a '76 or newer vehicle, don't let your plates expire!!

Interesting...

This is exactly why I went through everything I did to add PS pump but still keep my air pump installed. People thought I was nuts at the time. Of course, now I have Collector Plates as well (didn't feel like paying increased registration rate).

Wow, didn't know that. Guess it's good I kept my smog stuff just in case...and hopefully I'll be able to stay on top of the registration in years to come!

Registration isn't that much and my rig is on the road every day. I don't mind paying my share of taxes to drive my cruiser.
