Default 10 Meter Contest

The ARRL's 10 meter contest is this weekend. 10 meters is the one band that technician class operators can get on the air on SSB. The contest begins at 0000 UTC Saturday, December 11th and ends at 2359 UTC Sunday the 12th. 10 meter antennas are small antennas and therefore are the easiest to put up. A simple and inexpensive 10 meter dipole antenna will work the world on low power and the band will really come to life because of the contest. Remember the rule for building a dipole, 468 divided by the frequency you wish to operate on. Get the dipole up as high as possible and you're in business. Contest rules require that a signal report (59) and state abbreviation must be exchanged.

That sounds really cool. Don't have a rig that will do 10m...

Must not get sucked into another hobby...

We got on 10 meter while out in the Henry's this past summer, seemed to be working for most of the weekend. Made a contact to a guy in NM using QRP while running about 5by7. Seemed to be a lot of people on ten that weekend.
