Logic says that most places that have a real winter use salt on the roads. A quick googly search says . . . http://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-se...oads-salt.html

When I was shopping hard for a Cummins I simply asked the seller to take some shots of the underside and I explained why. The worst I saw was from Wisconsin/Minnesota and the better ones were from N.Carolina and Kansas City but I was only searching a 750 mile radius.

I would not buy a truck out of state without inspecting it. There are lots of 100's that come up for sale in Denver and the front range. Why go out of state?

Chris,

In the post below there is a link to the script I wrote to query sellers on thier vehicles. This may be useful to you.

Yep learned my lesson there. There are about 5 or so LC/LX for sale in Colorado but none are what I am looking for.

I would definitely buy from Nebraska, as long as it is a good car. The Kansas car was a bait and switch, unfortunately for me. Nebraska is cool because you can drive to most points in Nebraska and back in one day. That makes it just a really long, scenic (???) drive to look at a car.

My idea on the KC rig was to fly to KC then drive home. At the time $99 for a one way was waaay cheaper than driving. Did that on my current 100 from LA. Flew one way to LA, then drove back. Flight was 1/2 the gas to drive home. I lucked out as the vehicle had 99% regular maintenance from a Toyota dealer in LA, the undercarriage was pristine, and the locker had never been turned on. Granted, my only real sacrifice was the carpet--it looked like the soccer mom was a soccer mom since they bought the car new. Just worn a lot in the common areas--drivers accel pedal for the heel of the shoe, lots of in and out of the back seat. Otherwise, it was a good deal even considering the flight and gas driving home.

Keep going until you feel it, but don't compromise on what you want. Yours is out there.

Well it is done!

I now own a 2001 LC with 74k miles. It is so clean, I am almost, almost hesitant to do what I am about to do to it...Well almost...

Whew, relieved that the flight, rental car was worth it.

Thanks guys, will send pics, once I get off the dance floor and they turn then the lights on in the gym...Remember those days?

I got to the dealership and the sun was setting. The pics I took did not do itnjustice.

Think this was one of those times when they did not know what they had.

So my plan was to start heading home this evening but this dealership in Tracy is a bit old school.

California has some new law, the dealership's interpretation is not to rely on the buyer to get a simple 1day pass from the DMV down the street but to employ a driver to escort me to the border with NV, have a notary sign the paperwork and then I am on my way.

The notary in Reno, of course leaves at 5pm on Friday. So I was forced to stay the night in Tracy, get a good night sleep and have a few beers at Chevy's..

Getting a not so early start home tomorrow at 9 AM.

But I will be driving a Land Cruiser home!
