Maybe you should have just gotten Tim's 80? Or find an older 100 that you won't hesitate to wheel?

If you get a 62 I think you'd have to spend a lot more time wrenching than you do now. Fine if that's what you want to do or if you just want to get into the older trucks to have a cool project.

I agree with Christo and Marco...you will not be happy in the average 62. You willl spend an absolute fortune getting it to a level that you are comfortable going on expeds, and you will quickly realize the 80 is far superior out of the box. There are decent 80's with diff locks up on the market all the time, and you wouldn't sweat getting a few pin stripes on one. Shoot, for that matter, there was a 98 100 series w/diff lock up on clist for a bit over $7k.

http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/2732406238.html Yeah, that's a lot of miles, but I did see one a while back that had nearly 400k on it!

Give it a week or so. Once there are french fries between the center console and seats that you can't reach, Purple juice spilled on the carpet, vomit in the 2nd row, 90wt spilled on the carpet in the rear. Then you can lift it and wheel it. If it was just for the mall you could have saved a lot of money and bought a Jeep.

Of course it's nice, now build that sucker up. It's 11 years old already.

Lots of options and Cruise Moab is 5 months out..

I had a nice sit down months ago with Christo and the advice is still ringing in my ear....Get your own truck and let the wife drive what she wants...

I would like to get our 80 back but I think that is still years out..

Maybe I will go back to searching for a locked 80.. I would want a stocker to mod, just more fun to have a project..Plus I need to go as low cost as possible.

I like the 62s though, always have..If it is going to sit around and be used for expedition trips and to haul stuff around, I like the price tag of a 62.

We will see..

One thing I should say is my wife really missed her Land Cruiser when we gave it to her Dad. And the smile on her face driving this Land cruiser around is priceless. I guess it is just a matter of time, until I get to mod this 100 but for now that looks to be further down the road then tomorrow...

Don't rule it out Chris. Michele likes driving the 100 too, a lot more than she liked driving the 80 around. The irony is the 80 had about .5" more clearance, but felt like a huge truck in comparison... ok sure the break-over was better, but you get the point.

Point being a tastefully done mild build on a 100 series is still a nice car for the family to drive around in, and one the enjoys driving. Yet it can still make it to Doll House and run E-Hill.. what else is there?

You need to listen to Marco more....and there's a reason his truck has a V8 in it....
Early trucks can tell you the top cruising speed by the series. If you are going expo, this matters!
60 series = 60mph
80 series = 80mph
100 series = 100mph

I have to get on the "must have a V-8 if it's a 6x series" wagon. Still my favorite Cruiser wagons but the 2F or 3FE just doesn't cut it for my needs. A well done fuel injected V-8 conversion and well thought out gearing will make the 6x do ANYTHING you need it to do!

Well, there is an exception to the V8 for a 60. The last 12HT diesel I brought in, went into this truck and then sold. http://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-tra...bo-diesel.html

Chris, your welcome to have her drive mine. Then she may let you mod it and borrow it for the events

Lock the front dif. Best mod you can do and it doesn't look like you changed a thing. Run 33's AT tires. They fit with no lift. The ride quality is better with OME springs/ Shocks than factory.

Too nice to be the trail rig, What nonsense. Nice trail rig, now were talking.
