Looks clean, but dunno about a steal. They have been coming down in price, and that one has high miles. If no timing belt, then it's not a deal at all. For example, Carmax has a clean 03 LX with only 80k miles on it for ~$24k. That's a 30k mile difference and it doesn't need timing work for another ~2 years.....for ~$4k. I typically say a car loses about $1k for every 10k of miles. So, take the 30k, that's 3 grand, and another 1,500 for the timing service. bingo.

That all makes sense but the value of buying from the original owner, who claims to have all receipts, of an '03 with still reasonable mileage from a non-rustbelt state for an asking of under $20k is pretty darn good.

Personally, I wouldn't buy from a dealer unless it was Toyota. Next down would be another major car manufacturer dealer (like Land Rover, Ford, etc.), and then down to outlets like Carmax. At the top of the list are the original owners.

Agreed, and I wasn't saying that Carmax was a place I would buy from. (though it is in Atlanta, so non rust as well) Just a quick snapshot of how pricing on 03's came down a bit since December. LX's tend to sell a tick higher than LC's. When I lived in Atlanta, I would always buy from individuals b/c it meant not having to pay sales tax and all the dealer junk fees. Since Colorado collects tax when you register it, kind of makes that a non issue.

So I landed on a great bumper, thanks to a tip from Nakman!

Nice to have friends like Tim, he waded in the Dirty Devil river to hand me a winch line and found me a great bumper!

Tim has the same bumper and has a 99, I have an 01. The line up with each bumper was slightly different. Tim's AC line was without a 90 degree bend like mine. The 90 degree bend was key for missing the mounting plate.

It was a bit of a lengthy install, box of nuts and bolts all mixed together was slightly intimidating. The best part was using Face Time to check in with Tim and Brent, while we were both installing at separate locations.. It was like a Mod-off! "What is this bolt for?" "uh, yeah not there.."

I needed to add a few washers between the mounting plate and the frame to angle the mounting plate back toward the grill, bringing the bumper closer to the body for a better fit. Tim did not have to do this for roughly about the same fit.

All in all, I like the style very much. The fog light and turn signal kits were included.. Also has under wing covers for each side. I am pretty stoked!

I guess for now there are only 3 of us in the U.S. with this latest version of the TJM T13 Outback. Will be nice to have a unique look for as long as it lasts!

Also, thanks to Christo for having the wisdom to order a couple of these from TJM! I think we grabbed these within ours of them arriving in Golden!

That's a nice clean looking bull bar. I like the round lights. Wish the 80 series ARB had that.
