Littleton, we'll see if it works out.

Yeah, it's been a big year. PE license, kid, house. I'm the best man in my friend's wedding, and my wife is a bridesmaid in the wedding too. That's a little over a month out. Oy. Think we could do any more in a year?

Ok, back on topic: Wow Wes that's a nice ride (both the 100 and the 80). Good job.

What's your definition of minivan?

Something may be in the works...though it won't exactly fit in this "100 series confessions" thread...

So of those that made the leap from 80 to 100, how many regret it?
I had convinced myself to keep the 450 and retire my 40 from these nutty expedition style trips...then along comes a guy interested in my truck.
I'm having a hard time seeing how selling something that's nearly ready for the trail (just lacking sliders) and starting over with even more cash just to get to the entry point of a 100, let alone lift & tires., is wise.

Thought this was interesting. However, it's just a guys opinion. And, he has a Vitara, a Patriot and a station wagon on there too. So take that for what it's worth. I kinda wish I had an 80 too. I just plain like the way they look when they're built. I'm still new to all of this, but the 100 seems to be all we need to get us where we like going, and it's pretty comfortable too.

Wow tough spot...

You have an 80 ready to go, sliders $900.00

OR sell your 80...Then find a 100....

Spend funds on... Sliders, tires, potential maintenance: timing belt/headers/rotors/brakes, lift kit

You know really other than the potential maintenance of the 100, the only difference in the 100 vs. 80, is purchase price difference in the 100 vs. sale of 80 and 2k of mods.

I guess if it were me, I would go with the vehicle I imagined myself in vs. the cost differences.. And if you have a buyer for the 80 and you get what you want for it....

I will say that your 80 locked does give you many more options of trails vs. a 100 with the same lift.

Time to start driving the pickup

Is the 80 yours, or does your wife DD it? I'm not sure if her needs are part of the equation.

Otherwise - it's time and money. Do you have both to get the 100 to where you want it? Or maybe you and Davis can switch for a week - you'll like those seat heaters this time of year...

Matt,
It's her DD at the moment, but the plan was for her to get a zip about instead of the 80. I was planning on taking it at that point and retiring the 40 from those high speed snow runs in the desert. The 80 is locked, lifted, aggressively tired, HG done, brakes done, and a boatload of other maint including new leather and seat heaters. It's really a nice truck. I know 100's are nicer, but are they $9-10k nicer? That's a lot of beans to get into a stock 03 from a half modified 80.

So the guy is coming to look at it on Saturday. I'm still on the fence on what to do if he makes an offer close to what I had it advertised for. If I sell it, I'll probably get a 100 for her instead of a zip about, but that means no mods or wheeling for a long time. That might not be all bad though. I've been leaning towards buying a quadcopter, goPro, and FPV and making some killer vids. I can't fly and drive, so I could ride with someone the next time we go to the desert and set up for shots. I think a flyby crossing elephant hill at night would be EPIC!
