Default It Lives

Well after many months working on the 1970 FJ40 5.7L TBI conversion and many other things including but not limited to, pulling the tub, cleaning up the frame , moving motor and tc mounts , rebuilding the front axle, installing Saganaw PS and new TR/DL, I got it running tonight Have to work on the idle circuit as it won't stay running but what a milestone. I had a goal to get it running by the end of January and I made it just under the wire. Thanks for all the help and advise, I will keep you updated on the progress as I need to get this done well in advance of Moab..

Looks good. Your steering box install looks really clean.

Thanks Matt, the 4x4 Lab's frame kit is really nice. My welds are farrrrr from perfect but they are getting better all the time. The Miller 211 with autoset has really helped.

Here is a list of things I have done.

1- pulled tub to clean frame, relocate motor and t-case mounts.
2- rebuilt front axles, upgrade to 60 knuckles and disk's, installed Longfields w/ upgraded inner hub gear so I can use IFS hubs (shorter and less expensive).
3- installed power breaks including lines from 60 series.
4- new tie rod 1.25"dom with 80 series tre's, drag link 1.25"dom with heim and custom tie rod clamp.
5- Saganaw PS with 4x4labs frame plate kit. With new smaller steering wheel.
6- install 1993 GMC 5.7L tbi with new AA mounts and custom exhaust. mated to SM465 4spd and 3spd transfer case. AA shift plate adaptor.
7- install new fuel filters, pump for tbi and lines.
8- install new seats Corbeau front buckets with 3 point harness and rear
bench.

Things to do list before Moab

1- install new gauges oil-p and temp, (would like to get a tach).
2- finish wiring including stock lighting and signaling.
3- fresh tuneup on the 5.7L. looking at getting a new chip for tbi.
4- finish rear breaks either rebuild drum's or convert to disk (time permitting).
5- install CB, HAM and stereo.
6- finish heater install front and rear.
7- fit and finish transmission hump.
8- fab spare tire carrier. (get 33x12.5x15 tire for spare).
9- install speedo and parking break cables.
10- get rear drive shaft lengthened.
11- finish ARB pump install for front and rear lockers.
12- finish hard door rebuild time permitting.
13- install slider, passenger side.
14- drive and work out all bugs before Moab.

I will try and have it on the road by the end of February maybe bring it to the March meeting, , we'll see, keeping my fingers crossed.
