Default Timing Belt and Water Pump

Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Boulder/Denver area? I have a 2001 4runner Limited that is in desperate need of this maintenance. I was quoted 1425.00 by my local shop! seems a bit high to me....
Also what kind of prices should I be looking at?

Any suggestions would be great! (I don't have the time or the space to do this myself)

Thanks in Advance

David

$800 (+/-) is the target price I hear of. Since it's a non-interference engine, some folks just wait until the water pump starts leaking and do it then.

i could do it for you if you get the parts.

$1400 is the going price is'h depending on the parts.. because there is very little in the effects of parts, its all labor.

6cyl or 8cyl. ??

toyota charges
4 hours for 4cyl
6 hours for 6 cly
8 hours for 8 cly
for timing belts. and adtional .5 for the water pump

some times its a crap shoot for the tech, sometimes the tech wins. just depends on the motor. they do there hours like that so that the costumer isnt scared.

Seems like the labor to do a 6 cylinder would be the same as a v-8. Is there something different about the v-8? Also, I thought the 4 cylinder trucks had chains. Either way I guess I do remember having to drain the coolant on my tundra when i did the timing belt. I think it took me an afternoon to do the belt and change the water pump. It was a bit more involved than say the belt on a Honda. Robbie (powderpig) would probably be able to quote (actual dollars) it pretty easily. I'd go for it but I just don't have the time lately.
