That is cool you found the snackster at Sears! Home Depot doesn't carry them anymore.

The Hotdogger is small. A pack of hot dogs is about the size width and length. Height is about 1 1/2 hot dogs high. I have mine attached to the headers but it will fit on the exhaust down pipe of a 40.

Matt, you need to figure out how to get that round one from Sears hooked up to a belt drive/gear reduction setup, so you can have an actual rotisserie going on. Biggest downside to engine cooking is the hot side/cold side thing, particularly the further away you get from the manifold... it's sometimes tough to find that window of awesome when your burrito is warm all the way through, net not crunchy on the manifold side, or still icy in the middle or on the other side. And who has time to flip 'em..

I'm still scratching my head at the V8 engine... had some burritos on top of the radiator and they just got cold from the air coming into the engine, didn't really get hot despite an hour of solid driving. Need to get them closer to the manifold, but it's messy down there, and adding headers didn't help either.

As for the hot dogger, I have been pretty disappointed with that one, prefer wrapping stuff up in foil and tossing it into a grill. The hot dogger is thick, which slows down the heat transfer, and the lid doesn't seal perfectly so you still need to wrap stuff in foil. My results with that have been not-so-hot food, or slightly hotter dusty food.

I found a funky cast aluminum mess kit in my wife's grandpa's garage that looks like this:



It sits perfectly on the intake manifold on my F155 motor, nestled between the valve cover and the carb. No attachment hardware required. It's been there for several years and heats up food nicely. I would be hard pressed to squeeze more than one Qdoba burrito in there, though.

Turns out it is a WWI vintage Army mess, so it seems appropriate for use in the 40.

You might be able to just bundle the burritos in tinfoil and sit them in the same spot on your 2F. Worth checking out.

Problem with the 2F is that the air cleaner goes right over that area, making access difficult. Like the idea though...

Toss the food (pre-cooked, i.e. just needs warming) in that thing (HotDogger, Muffpot, foil bundle), strap (wire, big hose clamp) the thing on your manifold and see what happens. Provided it's on there an hour or so, I think you will find that it works out just fine more often than not.

The HotDogger is good for a couple of small burritos, but won't hold much more than that.

We ran a hot dogger in the 100 for a couple seasons. Got food luke warm at best.

After the Spooky night run, I'm convinced driving around with a Crock Pot plugged into the inverter is the only way to go.
