Default New T-case knob turns into 2LO

I had my old man turn me a knob out of curly maple for my T-case. I was fitting the knob when I though, "I should take off this boot and clean it up." So I took off the boot and found this nice mouse nest. This confirms mice used my hood insulation for a home.

Pretty dang nasty under there. I'd love to clean it up but where to begin? I did vacuum out the insulation and mouse feces.

So while I was in there I spotted the bracket that prevents you from shifting into 2LO. I could see the bolts and reach them from above so I figured I might as well take it out and make some sparks. Thank God for GOOP hand cleaner.

Of course things aren't always so easy. The 2LO thread on Mud didn't mention a second bracket using the bottom bolt that prevents you from removing it. Had a lot of fun figuring out how to get that one loose.

Here is the offending knob that started the whole thing.

Bracket cleaned up with a new coat of paint before she goes back in tomorrow.

Cool new shift knob! Having 2-Lo is nice.
