Angry White River NF closures

Well, all 12 of the appeals were denied by the Forest Service. The new travel management plan will go into effect in May. I'd like to get in a couple more runs in the area before winter sets in and the trails will be closed for good. Lime Creek, Wearymans, Benchmark are the ones I'm aware of. I'm sure there are more. Also means anyone with an ATV or unplated motorcycle has nowhere to ride.

That sucks. I'm still hoping to make it up there before the trails are shut down for snow.

Why wasn't Lime Creek and Wearymans creek on the mvum if they are existing routes?

Hmmm - closing Wearymans surprises me more than the others. It's a pretty well established route, nicely marked and easy to navigate.

Is the FS providing a reason for the closures?

Just trying to understand. So the roads on the new MVUM map around Camp Hale will be closed per the Post article that Farr posted? The existing map on the Stay the Trails site shows most of the roads legal on the new plan. http://staythetrail.org/mvum/2011-09...ck_2011-08.pdf

Are the 12 appeals you refer too, 12 roads that will be closed that were on the map?

So I assume there will be new MVUM map is coming out? I wonder how many other changes\road closures will be added. Looking at the White River MVUM map in the Flat Tops where I like to go. It looks like every single road that was marked on all the old maps will be legal. So at least that's that good.

That map appears to be accurate. FR745 (lime creek) is absent from the map. 747 (wearyman) is absent from the map. FR710(Mill creek rd) is absent from the map.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I'm not that familiar with that area.

I went and ran wearymans over ptarmigan to mcallister and over to lime creek and back over shrine pass today. It's a shame those are going to close. They are clearly marked clean and I didn't see nary trail abuse or off trail routes. Just to some campsites. We are really really getting screwed losing these.
