Default Quick question on emissions.

When I lived here (long time ago) they just put in the consolidated emissions stations. I understand a few things however have changed since then (?) are there independent testers? Are the independents only for collectors/older vehicles?

I am told I need to rent some emissions tire (sub-34"), but are there certain recommended and more offroad-friendly check stations?

Your help appreciated,

The tires are because their rollers can accommodate only up to 33" tall tires. AFAIK that is a problem at all Air Care Colorado stations.

The indie places can only do 1981 and older. Air Care Colorado can do them, although there's no advantage to doing that. For 1982 and newer, you have to use the 'official' stations.

Scott,

Getting the 80's to pass emissions seems to be getting harder and harder with the tighter allowances. This thread has some good chatter on the topic, and ways to prepare for it:

There are several folks in the club that have an extra set of 32" or 33" tires, so you might have some luck asking around. You are more than welcome to mine if you want to make the trip up to Boulder.
