Thanks for all the advice. The plan is to get some better muds and run them low but for the time being, the chains do seem to help in certain instances. I like to have them around just in case. Plus the ones I was able to get fit up to the 33X10.5 on my 40 but I can also swap onto my truck. So, they serve dual purposes.

Randy, I had never thought about putting them on a trailer, probably because I don't have one, but good advice for the future.

Or you could do like the guy in the Chevy pickup I got stuck behind up hunting this year. He couldn't get up a steep hill, that often is a tough climb, and was chaining up. After he chained up one front tire, he moved to the rear to chain up one rear tire. I had to point out the error in his ways and was at least able to convince him that setup will do literally nothing to help. He then put the second chain on the other front tire.

I have chains for all 4. If I'm too lazy to put them all on I do opposite corners once in a while. left front/right rear. I'm locked on both axles. But would never do that on the road.
