Default Metberry Gulch?

Thinking of fishing the South Platte tomorrow and I'd like to take Metberry Gulch to get to that section of river. What's everyones opinion on doing that trail solo?

Or, anyone want to fish the Platte tomorrow?

I've run it solo in my 40. Took my father-in-law down there to fish. Not sure what the condition of the trail would be this time of year though. Probably fine if there's no snow. Scenic and easy trail and good fishing.

I think it has a seasonal gate. Might be a good idea to call the FS and see if it's open before you go.

Thanks! It will be my first time on that section of river so I'm looking forward to it. I'm guessing the snow will be gone, but if it looks questionable I'll just turn around and fish the Canyon. Just trying to get away from the crowds!

I forgot about the gate. Definitely worth calling the FS to find out.

Found some trip reports online from Jan 2012. So, I'm guessing it's open, but I'll call in the morning.

I don't see a gate on the MVUM. Beater goes there fairly often - he may be interested in giving you some company.

my experiences have been mixed. Gates up when not supposed to be, etc. I have very little luck mixing wheeling and fishing on the front range.

The whole trail is very nice and gentle but i would be weary if "the slab" has any snow or ice. See this was yesterday, did you go?
