Default Basic Baofeng HT Models

Has anyone recently looked at the basic Baofeng HT model line and have info to share/recommendations for single and dual band?

Thanks!

I have a couple of the UV-82's. I keep them in the get home bag in each of our cars. Vehicle to vehicle communication within normal CB distances is good, even without external antennas. I put an external antenna on my DD to see how it would do and I got pretty decent reception but with only 5w the transmit range sucks and cannot compare to the dedicated radio I have in the Cruiser.

I have a few Baofeng radios. I like the BF-F8HP. It's a dual band up to 8 watts HT. Add a male to male 2.5 audio cable to an Android device with APRS droid and you can have quick and cheap APRS system.

Thanks! Spicewood is a little town outside of Austin TX off of HWY 71. If you blink you will miss the town. LOL

Things change fast on Amazon. The GT-3 would not arrive fast enough. The others models above do not have car charges (a problem I have seen with friends here not having charged radios).

Ended up ordering on GT-3 that will arrive and three https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that will arrive and have car charges. 10 Watt max too.

We shall see....

I like my GT-3. It's receiver is much better than the uv-5r plus. The BF-F8HP has the same receiver as the GT-3 (so I have read on the net). I have had the best luck with this programing cable. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HH...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use chirp to program the radios.
Good luck with the new radio.

Thanks for the link! I ordered the BF-F8HP to add to my collection.
I will have to do some reading tonight on the TYT radios. That looks like a good deal.
