I finished work and drove the 1.5 miles home slowly. Joined my wife for an adventure to Wall-Mart to buy a $79 ODBII tool. Already had a shop manual, Already had a spare COIL in tool bag.

Removed negative terminal on battery. Removed Air intake, removed offending coil, replaced with new OEM coil. Gently cleaned around throttle body with paper towel. Replace air intake and battery and No more V8 pic on the dash. Tools needed:
Pair of pliers
10mm box wrench
10mm socket and extension
ODBII Scanner. (I now own)

I like when it takes longer to do a write up than the repair. The key to the simplicity of this was the ODBII scanner. Having the right tools can make all the difference in the world.

Thats cool. We had the same thing happen on my truck at Pismo. 5 min later, we were back in line at the poker run. Love the easy ones.
