Default Last minute camping ideas

Getting the new truck camper Saturday morning, and Lise and I want to try it out either Saturday night or Sunday night...

On Memorial Day weekend no less, at the last minute.

Any ideas for sites not too far away from Evergreen? We don't have a dogsitter arranged so it would be after their dinner to before their breakfast. Before you suggest it, I love camping with dogs. With 7... not so much.

Thought about the Kenosha Pass area but that is almost certain to be jam packed. Somewhere around there would be great, and unimproved would be fine, we are self contained.

That could work... as I recall not terribly woodsy until you get in pretty far...

I'm lazy...I'd just "camp" in the driveway if this was just a trial run

No packing food, water, clothes, etc. and no need to worry about rushing back for the dogs or finding a spot to park in the dark

I know, not near as much fun as getting out somewhere.

About 10 miles back IIRC.

Could also run up Guenella, or head up the road toward Red Cone/Webster

Lost Park is a great campground. Only ten sites and they are big. Great hiking around there too. There is dispersed camping along that road too.

Georgia pass is nice and close. Both sides. If you go up from Jefferson there are tons of camping spots and it's never over-ran by tons of people. Not as many camping spots on the Breck side.

Found a campsite that the USFS says is "relatively undiscovered" south of Pine... about 50 minutes down the road from us. That one might work.

Yeah, thought about driveway camping but the whole point is to actually cut the house umbilical cord as a test run... LOL
