Default BMX bike helmets?

Santa's little helpers are currently building Bridger his first BMX bike. I spent 14 years selling bikes but never worked a BMX race shop. We have a town BMX track here in Durango so I'm going to put Bridger on that right away if his interest is there. Plus then I'll get the 24 I've always wanted

So I don't know what the scoop is on a full faced BMX race helmet. What the goto brand for safety. I don't care about any other features really.

Don't most BMX racers wear motocross helmets? I'm not sure if there are differences, although my instinct would think that a motocross helmet would be stronger... I think the big things to look out for are weight, ventilation, and safety. I don't know a ton about the differences between a $100 helmet and a $400 helmet, but I'd opt for something that is DOT and possibly Snell certified by one of the major brands like HJC, Arai, Bell, Shoei, etc.

Corbet, I have a 16" wheeled redline with freewheel. It's got a gyro and pegs but you could take those off. 3piece cranks, hookworm tires. Ferguson's outgrown it but still likes to ride it. It's pretty scratched up, but otherwise in good shape. How about $75?? I'll post a pic if you want.

BMX full face are lighter than most moto DOT helmets. That's all I know.

I've got a 18" Redline Micro race bike lined up for him but its definitely on the big side. Send a pic to speskioffroad(at)gmail.com. That might be a good ride for him now.
